Barbara S Hill's Obituary
Barbara Stockwell Hill, 66, of Memphis, TN, died Saturday, August 1, 2015 at her home. She was born December 19, 1948 in Memphis, TN. She attended Kingsbury High School, Class of 1966, and Memphis State University, where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Education. In 1970, she married Don Wayne Hill and together they had two children, Don Wayne Hill Jr. (Aimee) of Hernando, MS and Melissa Irene Parham of Bartlett, TN. These two children gave her seven loving grandchildren: Christian Bradley Hill (Mississippi State University), Jonathan Reece Hill, Elizabeth Paige Hill and Katherine Alyssa Hill all of Hernando, MS. And, Kaitlyn Irene Parham, Brendan Robert Parham and Erin Nicole Parham all of Bartlett, TN. Barbara worked as the Periodicals Coordinator at Christian Brothers University for 27 years. She enjoyed singing Beatles songs with her children and grandchildren and watching her Memphis Tigers! Barbara served as an Elder at Decatur Trinity Christian Church, where she was also a faithful member of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, brother Marvin Stockwell Sr. (Claudia) of Germantown, TN., nephews Marvin Stockwell Jr. (Sarah) of Memphis, TN, Lance Holden Stockwell, Oregon and niece Noel Abbie McConnell (Kevin) of Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Wallace Stockwell and Willie Mae Starr Stockwell. Visitation will be Thursday, August 6, 2015 from 5pm-7pm, at Memorial Park on Poplar and funeral services are to be held Friday, August 7, 2015 at 10am at Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Dectaur Trinity Christian Church, The Church Health Center or Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
