Ava Nell Jett
June 1st, 1939 – March 8th, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mother, Ava Nell Jett on March, 8th 2024, of the Belmont Village Memory Care center in Aliso Viejo, CA. peacefully and with family.
Ava was a devoted and loving mother to her three sons, doting grandmother “Nanny” to her seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was also a loving and caring nanny to dozens of children in her care over the last 50 years of her life.
Ava was born in Ripley, TN, grew up and raised her family in Memphis, TN until recently moving to California to be near two of her sons and grandchildren. Her ashes will be interred next to her loving husband of forty years, Gene David Jett, who predeceased her in June of 2000.
She was immensely proud of children, Derek Jett (Cindy) of Collierville, TN and Steve and David (Susan) Cozzens of Orange County, CA. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Ava Katherine (Jett) Byrd and Griffin Jett of Collierville, TN, Garrett and Grant Cozzens of Ladera Ranch, CA, Schuyler and Harlo Cozzens of Laguna Beach, CA and Caden Cozzens of Macon GA as well as great-grandson, Elijah. She also leaves behind two sisters, Lucile and Peggy.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org in her memory.
An interment of ashes and celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 7th, 2024, at the Rotunda in the Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119.
