Chief Aubrey O. Smith was a pioneer of fire apparatus maintenance and he spent many hours teaching me when I was on the Memphis Fire Dept. He powered the first diesel fire apparatus at the fire dept. shop, which he commanded, and ushered in a new and modern era in the history of the Memphis Fire Dept.
Until we, you, Bob (RC) Burns and I can all be together again keep a place on the roll call sheet open for me!
Aubrey is a Class One act that may be gone but will never be forgotten. As ever……..
