Athena Jameson's Obituary
Athena Jameson, 85, of Collierville, passed away on October 24, 2022. The family will gather to receive family and friends on Friday, October 28, with visitation at 10 am, followed by an 11 am service, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Memphis, Tennessee. Burial services will follow at the Memorial Park Funeral Home. The Daughters of Penelope will host a Makaria (luncheon) after the burial, back at the Orthodox Church in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Jameson was born on October 26, 1936 in Chicago, IL. She later married Michael Jameson, of Chicago, IL in 1958. She became the beloved mother of John Jameson (Vickie), Andy Jameson, and Beth Bruning (the late Edward Bruning). Athena loved taking cruises to Alaska, shopping at Dillards and Goodwill, spending time with her grandchildren, and baseball (especially the Chicago Cubs). Athena was a faithful member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Memphis. She was a member of the Daughters of Penelope, as a Sunshine Corresponder, an Elpis Philoptocos member, and a devoted Young at Heart member and event reminder. Athena was a doting wife, a supportive and loving mother, a role model to 5 younger sisters, and a friend you could always depend on. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Jameson, father and mother, Andrew and Olive Leontios, and three sisters, Mary Ellen, Fran, and Eugenia. Athena is survived by her two sons, John (Vickie) and Andrew Jameson; her daughter, Beth Bruning; her two sisters, Chris and Betty; and her four grandchildren, Erin (Michael), Michelle, Andrew, and Kimberly. Lasting memorials in her honor may be directed to the American Cancer Society or the Annuciation Greek Orthodox Church of Memphis, Tennessee.
