Arlee Dickson's Obituary
Ms. Arlee “Nanny” Delores Shannon-Dickson of Memphis, Tn, was born August 6, 1933 to Beatrice Barnes-Shannon and Jodie Shannon in rural town Bruins, Ark. Arlee slipped away from us serenely after dusk on June 20, 2013. She is preceded to glory by her mother, father, her brother Joseph Shannon and her long-term Bouvier Labrador Retriever companion, Sebastian. Arlee was blessed with a full 79 years! She brought to the world six beautiful children; five daughters and one son. All of whom are successful and have children and grandchildren of their own. Arlee retired from Memphis Mental Health, as the food service Director in 1996. Arlee had a strong work ethic and compassion for people. To say the least those were some of the qualities that she instilled in her children, grandchildren and her employees too. In Arlee’s leisure time she enjoyed catering, entertaining, country cooking and traveling. No matter the leisure she never failed to exclude her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren from her life. A loving mother, grandmother, sister and loyal friend, Arlee will truly be missed. To cherish her fond memories, she leaves six children: Joan, Janet, Rhonda, Susan Trina and Congress Jr. three son-in-laws, Oscar, James, and Rodney. Five siblings: Margaret, Lula, Viola, Azalia and John. As well as, fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. It is not the love loss or the demise of a physical being it is the legacy that she has left to be cherished. May all that you have instilled in us carry on and may our beloved and jubilant ancestors welcome you home.An ancestral gift to us all!
