Anthony "Tony" Clinard's Obituary
Anthony “Tony” Clinard, 62, of Cordova TN passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on October 12, 2023.
Tony was born on November 23, 1960, in Nashville, TN to Fred and Joyce Clinard.
Tony’s father was a career serviceman which took Tony to Okinawa Japan for several years then finally to Summerville SC. Tony graduated from the University of South Carolina and was a proud Gamecock. After graduation, Tony moved to Jackson MS where he started his career in sales. Tony eventually made his moved to Memphis TN where he worked in food service sales. Tony had a lifelong career with General Mills Food service. To say he bled GM blue would be an understatement. He was always asking anyone when they went somewhere if they had cheerios or other GM products served.
Tony was a big history buff and loved anything related to the military and civil war. On any trip if he saw a historical marker we had to stop and observe! Tony was an avid relic hunter and was always looking at maps and books to find new locations to hunt. He never stopped looking, from scanning parking lots to estate sales and auctions. Tony also loved playing golf. He enjoyed playing the game and just going to the range to hit balls. He was an active participant in the World Am Golf Tournament for many years. He also enjoyed bowling, bluegrass music, NFL football, making his picks, watching NASCAR, working in his garden, playing with his grandbabies, playing the lottery, and so much more! He truly was a one of a kind guy, there will never be another like him.
You could always count on him to say when you saw him “watched anything good on TV lately” or “had anything good to eat lately”. He loved food and was always finding new recipes and places to try in and out of town! Whenever we would go on vacation he would love to sit on the deck with his music in and just enjoy the scenery.
Tony is survived by his wife of 35 years, Leigh Clinard, daughter Emily Warhurst, grandchildren Brooks and Caroline all of Cordova, TN. His mother Joyce Clinard of Summerville SC and brother Bill (Heidi) of Summerville SC. Tony had 2 nieces and 3 nephews and many more family members. Tony was preceded in death by his father Fred Clinard.
