Annie Lou McGregor Castleman's Obituary
Annie Lou McGregor Castleman, 99, of Memphis, TN, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2018, with her family by her side. She was born to the late Walter and Nora McGregor on August 31, 1918 in Vardaman, MS.Ann married Carter Brown Castleman on December 25, 1934 at the age of 16. They were married for over 71 years until his death. She was a devoted wife and mother to their three children. She was a Godly woman of strong faith and encouraging words. Ann was well-known for her culinary skills and her talent as a seamstress. She and her husband loved to travel throughout the U.S., especially taking yearly trips in their Airstream trailer to the Great Smoky Mountains. She and Carter enjoyed their retirement in a house built by their son, Joe Carter, near Sardis Lake. They enjoyed fishing, taking care of their garden and spending time with their family. To this day, Ann’s 8 lb. largemouth bass holds the record as the largest fish caught in the Castleman lake. She was a faithful member of Forest Hill Church of Christ.Ann Castleman is survived by her son, Joe Carter Castleman and his wife Sheila. She also leaves behind 8 grandchildren; Lisa Gardner, Daniel Castleman, Rhonda Kennedy, Cindy Mackie, Stephanie Braddock, Jason Braddock, Ashlee Brooke, and Candace Rambo, as well as 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Carter Castleman, Fred Castleman, son, and Ruth Braddock, daughter.The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service time at 2 p.m., Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
