Annie Joy Davis' Obituary
Annie Joy Davis was born on February 19, 1946, in Memphis, Tennessee, to William and Joy Jennings. Annie accepted Christ at an early age, and her Christianity was reflected by her character. She left this life on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026, at 11:29 a.m., at 80 years old. She leaves a legacy of kindness, great faith, perseverance, and love for family. We are grateful for the woman that she was, the time spent, and the life lessons that will carry on forever. During her childhood years, she was raised by Eddie and Molly Jennings. Annie later returned to reside with her family on Leland. During this time, Annie met a young man, Walter Davis, whose family moved next door. Annie and Walter started to date, and he was her prom escort. Annie had an eventful year in 1964. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in May 1964. On November 26th, 1964, a Thanksgiving afternoon, Annie and Walter were married. They had two daughters, Tamekia and Ptosha, during this union. This union lasted for 61 years. Her career lasted for 38 years at Business Ink.
To know her was to love her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Annie had a kind heart and spirit. She loved to cook and prepared dishes for most family events. Annie also had a love for music. One of her favorite songs was "The Glory is Here" which her voice could be heard during praise and worship. This was during her membership at Spirit of Life Christian Church. Her last membership was at Resurrection Life Ministry" which she attended until health issues prevented her from physically attending. She had a great love for fashion and would coordinate her attire from head to toe.
She leaves behind a legacy to carry on her beautiful memory. Members of her legacy include her husband of 61 years, Walter Davis, daughters Tamekia Davis and Ptosha Black(Anthony), 2 grandchildren Valencia Walker and Jordan Black. She also had 1 great-grandchild, Karsyn Debose. Siblings include: Beverly Thomas(Harold), Francis Leatherwood(James), Lois Hurt, Joyce Lomax, Larry Moore, Ronald Jennings(Pamela), Veronica Jennings, Deborah Jennings and Fred Jennings. Preceding her in death were parents, William and Joy Jennings, bonus parents Eddie and Molly Jennings, siblings Clarence Jennings(Linda), Johnnie Jennings(Alberta), William Lou Jennings(Danner) and Lawrence Moore. She leaves her aunts Arnette Hill, Viva Lee Smith, one uncle Larry Moore, and in-laws include Florsie Murray(Elbert), Ruby Lewis(Walter), Wilbert Parker(Rosie), Nancy Davis(Archie). She also leaves a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
