Annetta Vick's Obituary
Annetta Vick, 76, of Memphis, TN, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Thursday, June
15th. She was loved by all, but no heart is more broken by her passing than that of her
soulmate, husband, and best friend Christopher Carl Vick, who survives her. Their two children
Rebecca Fleshman and Adam Vick also survive her, as well as her 2 sisters, 2 brothers-in-law, 4
grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Annetta was an extremely smart, strong, and caring woman. She was known for her warm
heart, warm hugs, and delicious pumpkin pie. Always with her hair done and toes painted, she
was the keeper of family histories and the “Queen of Useless Information”; and most
importantly, she taught us that sometimes it’s ok to eat ice cream for lunch.
Annetta was also an extremely gifted lyric soprano, who often sang in church, and it was her
sweet melodic voice that caught the attention of the man that would become the love of her
life. After meeting the young girl with a lovely voice, a young farmer proposed a marriage that
would then last 57 years. Their love story is a rare one; one that continues even now though
they are temporarily separated by Heaven and Earth. She was an inspiration, and somehow
good at everything. She was an incredible wife, mom, sister, friend, and an even better
Memaw.
Rest in peace and comfort Memaw. Pitch your voice to the choir of angels, and watch down on
those of us you leave behind. The power of your raised eyebrow lives on, as does the expanse
of your love, your beautiful family, and all your best recipes.
Annetta L. Vick’s celebration of life will be held at the Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel,
5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN, on Saturday, June 24th, at 11am. No burial service will follow
