Anne G. Weathers' Obituary
ANNE G. WEATHERS, 82, passed away at home on Thursday, May 31, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Born in Knoxville, she spent most of her early years in Tallahassee, Florida, where she met her husband, Wilson Weathers. They moved to Memphis in the 1950s and raised a large and loving family. After Wilson’s death in 1971, she returned to school and earned a master’s degree in education and a second master’s degree in counseling from then-Memphis State University and was a dedicated elementary-school teacher with the Memphis City Schools for many years. She is survived by her children, Jennifer Weathers and Sherri (Michael) Finger of Memphis, and David (Rabecca) Weathers and Doug Weathers of Germantown. She also leaves behind a beloved sister, Elaine (Bob) Woodward of Tallahassee, along with five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In her later years she devoted her life to her beautiful garden, her church, her family, her many friends, and her little dog, Scooter. A generous and kind-hearted woman, she was dearly loved by everyone who knew her. Our loss is heaven’s gain. A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Monday, June 4 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A private burial will take place at Memorial Park. On Tuesday, June 5 at 3 p.m., a memorial service will take place at Germantown Presbyterian. In lieu of flowers, the families would appreciate donations to Germantown Presbyterian Church, the Mid-South Parkinson’s Parkinson’s Disease Support Group, or a charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, (901)767-8930, “Behind the Stone Wall”.
