Anne Sartain Nelson's Obituary
Anne Sartain Nelson, age 78, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 7, 2025. She was born on July 13, 1947, in Memphis, Tennessee to her loving parents, James and Kathleen Sartain.
Anne attended White Station High School and then went on to attend classes at Memphis State University. She was a compassionate and caring individual, with a gift for helping others through difficult times, whether it was family problems or the loss of loved ones.
Anne cherished her children and grandchildren, relishing every moment spent shopping, talking on the phone, and organizing parties or showers. She adored family gatherings, be they birthdays, wedding showers, or holiday celebrations, and welcomed everyone she could fit around her table.
For over 40 years, Anne dedicated herself as a secretary and faithful helper to Pastor Jimmy Latimer at Central Church and then Redeemer Evangelical, serving with devotion and love for her church community.
Anne is survived by her husband, Terry; her two sons, Adam (Kim) Lancaster and Kevin (Lindsey) Lancaster; her four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Tracy Nelson and Lori Reeves, along with their two children; her sister, Sue Cadman; her niece, Erin (Mark) Padovano, her nephew, Blake Cadman of Austin, TX and five great nieces and one great nephew. She was preceded in death by her brother, James (Kara) Sartain of Tampa, FL, and leaves behind a nephew and three nieces, and various great nieces and nephews.
Anne was especially cared for in her final years by Stephanie Lancaster and Erin Padovano.
All who loved her and were touched by her kindness are invited to celebrate her life on September 17, 2025 at 2:00 for a visitation, followed by a service at 2:30, and burial at 3:00 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Redeemer Evangelical Church, 3100 South Houston Levee Rd, Germantown, TN 38139, or the AFTD Society, in remembrance of her enduring compassion and faith.
