Mrs. Anna Collin's Obituary
Anna M. Merrill Collin, age 94, died Friday morning, November 16, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Collin. Before they retired, the Collins owned and operated the Bekins Van and Storage Memphis franchise. Ann was born in Chaffee, Missouri, and came to Memphis in the late 1930s with her family. Her father, grandfather, brother, and first husband were life-time employees of the Frisco Railroad. Her late husband became a long-haul truck driver during World War II. They married in the early 1960s and assumed ownership of the Memphis Bekins moving company which they ran as a partnership for more than 30 years. Ms. Collin is survived by her daughter Peggy Rushing Ridgely and Peggy’s son, Casey. She also leaves her son, Sam Kittrell Rushing III, Kit’s wife, Frances, and their children, Anne, Sam and Callie, and grandchildren, Anne and Kit. Anna also leaves her special friends and caregivers, Wendy Patrick and William Sanders. In recent years, Wendy dedicated her life to making Ms. Collin’s life comfortable and secure, and for that, the family is sincerely grateful. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 18 at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
