Ann Pool's Obituary
Ann Jeanette COX Pool of Memphis began her eternal life in Heaven on January 2, 2014, just shy of her 85th birthday. Ann Pool, known to her many grandchildren and great- grandchildren as “Myrna”, was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1929 and moved to Memphis when she married Mr. Yelton Pool in 1948. During their life together, they lived to the fullest and created a big, wonderful family that would leave a remarkable legacy in Memphis and beyond. A loving and dedicated wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, and great-grandmother Ann was cheerful and warm hearted. With a sweet, hospitable spirit, she kept her beautiful home open and bright with love to countless family and friends. She was witty and sharp, with a great sense of humor and a robust personality. Family and friends will always cherish her fabulous rendition of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, a performance without which no Christmas would be complete. Her smile was unforgettable. Ann is now reunited with her sweetheart, Yelton. Her spirit will live on in her surviving family members. Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Yelton Pool. She is survived by three daughters, Virginia Cook, Ann Cox Pool, Jan Wingo and her husband Gary; three sons, John Pool (Maggie Pool), Richard Pool and his wife LeAnn, Jim Pool and his wife Barbara; sister Marian Wilson (Gary); brother, Walter Cox. One brother, John Cox preceded her in death. She also is survived by her grandchildren, Molly Cook, Carson, Cook, Melissa Cook Kelly, Jake Pool, Megan Wingo, April Wingo Gallagher, Jim Pool, Jr., Jennifer Adams; and two great-grandchildren Aubrey and Emily Adams. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1 p.m. Monday, January 6 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
