Ann Elizabeth Faquin McGuire's Obituary
Ann Elizabeth Faquin McGuire, 96, died peacefully at home on November, 23, 2024. She was born May 20, 1928, in Clarksville, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 63 years Mike “Mickey” McGuire; her parents, Arthur Charles Faquin and Annie Mai Moore Faquin; her brother, Arthur C. Faquin, Jr. (Francis) and her sister Ruth Faquin Torri (Al).
Ann grew up on Mignon in Memphis, attended Snowden Elementary and Junior High, before moving on to Central High School. Upon graduation, she began her collegiate career at Southwestern, (Rhodes) before, at the insistence of a friend, deciding to transfer to Centre College from which she graduated in 1950 as a math major. While at Centre, she met Mike and shortly after they graduated, they were married and returned to Memphis to begin their lives together. Through the years she taught school, was a full-time homemaker, and when Mike’s World Book office opened, she used her organizational skills to help efficiently run the office for nearly 25 years. At Lindenwood Christian Church, Ann was an integral part of the Friendship Class that Mike taught for 40 years, and also attended Collierville Christian Church and Water Christian Church.
She is survived by her son Kelly McGuire (Nancy); her daughter Marjorie McGuire; and her son Mark McGuire; three grandchildren Kristen Ireland (Jeremy); Michael McGuire (Lydia) and Britton McGuire (Elle); and three great-grandchildren Lillie and Annie Ireland and Archie McGuire all of Memphis; plus, many nieces and nephews she adored and that she tried to bring together whenever she possibly could. For over thirty years, Big Daddy and Grandma gathered the entire family for dinner on Sunday evening in their home and Grandma continued the tradition until the present time.
Mom loved the Lord and along with Dad began a tradition of church going that taught our family about the saving grace of Jesus Christ so we know that we will see and be with her and Dad and all the saints to worship God for eternity.
