Ann Roberson Jones' Obituary
Ann Roberson Jones, 87, passed away at home surrounded by her family on November 29, 2014. Services will be held in the Rotunda of Memorial Park Cemetery, Memphis, Tennessee on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 10 am. with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Ann was a retired teacher, having taught in the State of Mississippi for 3 years and in the Shelby County Tennessee school system for 30 years. She held graduate degrees in Education from the University of Memphis. Ann was proud that the highest student achievement award at Mt. Pisgah Middle School had been established in her honor and at graduation exercises every year, she presented the award. For many years Ann raised Tennessee Walking Horses and belonged to the Tennessee Walker and Exhibitor’s Association and the Pleasure Horse Association. Upon retiring, Ann began painting and exhibiting her works in many shows in and around the Memphis area. She served as President of the Bartlett Art Association and exhibition chairperson for the Memphis/Germantown Art League. Ann is survived by one daughter, Williene Jones Spitzer(Tony), one granddaughter, Lauryn Spitzer Goss, and one great grandchild, Madelyn Elise Goss, all of Jackson, Tennessee. She is also survived by her sister, Lucile R. Caldwell and brother, John Wesley Roberson, Jr. Ann is predeceased by her parents J.W. Roberson and Margaret Ann Roberson and son, William Barrett Jones, Jr. Ann requested that any memorials be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
