Ann Morris Heffernan's Obituary
Ann Morris Heffernan, 93, of Memphis, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018. She was born on September 16, 1925 to John Holmes Morris and Mary Kirk Morris. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Eugene “Bucky” Heffernan and brother, Jack Morris. Ann graduated from St. Agnes Academy and attended Christian College and The University of Tennessee, Knoxville where she was a member of Tri Delta Sorority. She taught kindergarten at Evergreen Presbyterian Church where she was awarded the Life Member of the Presbyterian Women. She was a member of Les Passes and the Salvation Army Auxiliary. She was a member of Germantown Presbyterian Church. She was a loving Christian who taught her kindergarten children the words she lived by, “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” Ann is survived by her children, Michael Heffernan (Katie), Dr. Jane Sumner (Allen), sister, Carole Bizot (Emile), six grandchildren, Kirk Heffernan, Emily Heffernan, Alex Sumner, Meg Sumner, Lillian Gordon and Dalton Lincoln, and three great-grandchildren, Trace, Celia and Kirk Heffernan. The family is truly grateful for her caregivers, Jerika Harris, Porscha Hill and Latoria Lockett for their loving kindness. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, November 7 from 10am until the time of the graveside service at 11am at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Germantown Presbyterian Church, MIFA or the Church Health center.
