Ann C. Brown's Obituary
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and avid Sudoku player, Ann (Callahan) Brown, passed away September 9, 2015. Formerly of Greeley, Nebraska, Ann had resided in Memphis for almost 60 years. She was married to Edward L. Brown for 47 years and was rumored to have renewed his contract for another five. Ann leaves behind two children, Chris Brown and his wife Alexis of Memphis, and Karen Zitz and her husband Eric of Henderson, NV, and siblings Dan, Gene, and Marty Callahan of Greeley, NE and Tom Callahan of Lincoln, NE. She is also survived by three treasured grandchildren, Molly, Daniel and Hallie, and two four-legged children that answer to the names “Sugar” & “Spice”. She is preceded in death by her brother Barney Callahan and sisters Margaret Swain and Mary Jane Callahan. Ann received a music scholarship to Sienna College in Memphis following high school graduation from Sacred Heart School at Greeley. Following college graduation, she had a stellar educational career as a teacher at White Station Elementary, Carrier Corporation, the Memphis Literacy Council, and as a private tutor. Beyond her family, her passions included music, reading, and children. Memorial services will be held at Memorial Park in Memphis on Monday, September 14th at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, Ann’s request was that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. Joseph’s Indian School in Chamberlain, SD.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, “Celebrating Life… Behind the Stone Wall”
