Ann Beach's Obituary
On March 10, 2016 Ann Elizabeth Beach went to her final opening at the big gallery in the sky. She leaves behind her beloved husband Samuel Lawrence Beach, children Christine Dalrymple, Pam Hutton, Keith Dalrymple, Lisa Call, Mark Beach, and Jason Beach, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.A sassy Southern belle originally from New Orleans, Ann became a Memphian after taking a big detour around the world. Ann’s greatest joys were art and travel. She was also known for her skills as a hostess and cook, and loved nothing more than gathering friends and family into her home. Her recipes can be found in many local cookbooks.Ann was a born artist, but it wasn’t until her later years that she became serious about it. Her paintings reflected her flair for style and were just as vivid as the painter herself. Her watercolors were filled with color and usually drew from her years as an interior designer and world traveler. Her work won many awards and can be found in both private and public collections throughout the Southeast. As with any genteel Southern lady, Ann belonged to many clubs and societies including Memphis Germantown Art League, Tennessee Water Color Society, Decorative Arts Trust, English Speaking Society, and Twentieth Century Home and Garden Club. She also was an enthusiastic volunteer and served as a Dixon Docent, GPAC Guild founding member and past president, and at the West Clinic, where she was also their first Artist of the Year.Ann was beloved by many people who will miss her vivacious personality, raucous laugh, energy and creativity. Memphis will be a little less colorful without her.Visitation will be held in the chapel at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Tuesday, March 15th at 9:30 a.m. with the service at 10:30 a.m. Burial is family only and will immediately follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the chapel renovation for Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Her arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119.
