Anita Holt Saed's Obituary
Anita Holt Saed, 78, of Destin, FL died November 4, 2013. Anita was born in Trimble, TN and graduated from Trimble High School. She attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Anita married Huey T. Holt of Milan, TN in 1956. After his graduation from medical school, they lived in Dyersburg, TN and Fort Lee, VA before returning to Memphis where Dr. Holt practiced medicine and Anita spent several years as a special education teacher at Cherokee Elementary before retiring to raise her family. Anita was active in the Episcopal Church, Symphony League of Memphis, Josephine Circle, The Women’s Exchange, River Oaks Book Club, and the Memphis Medical Society Auxiliary. She was also a Dutchess of Grand Krewe of Memphi. Dr. Holt died in 1992, and she married Mr. Sam Saed in 1996. After Sam’s death in 2010, Anita moved to Destin. She was on the board of the Homeowner’s Association at The Enclave and had many great Destin friends. Anita enjoyed painting, cooking, traveling, reading, and playing bridge. She was an avid sports enthusiast and loved the Memphis Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers, and St. Louis Cardinals. Anita was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to many. Anita was preceded in death by Dr. Huey T. Holt Sr. and Mr. Sam Saed. Anita is survived by her brother Leyton Wright and her sons Dr. Hugh Holt and his wife Lisa, and Michael Holt and his wife Ginger. She adored her six grandchildren: Michael, Blake, Elizabeth, Patrick, Sarah, and Emily. The family will receive visitors at 1:30p.m. Friday, November 8th at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3:00p.m. Memorial donations may be sent to the Emmanuel Episcopal Center.
