Anita Atkins Cobb, Born 10-08-1930, Died 04-21-2024
Anita was born in Stewart County Tennessee to Everett and Wilton Bryant Atkins.
She was educated in the Stewart County Schools and attended Austin Peay University, and Memphis State. She retired from the Shelby County school system as a teacher. She served as librarian at Vollentine and Grahamwood schools. Anita treasured her relationships with the teachers she taught with throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Atkins Cobb and her husband, Vinson, after 69 years of marriage, along with three brothers Earl, Jim and Billy Atkins.
She is survived by a loving daughter, Grace Susan Cotten(Orvie); a grandson, James Matthew Cotton(Christa), granddaughter, Nancy Elizabeth Robertson (Tyler) and four wonderful great-grandchildren, Chloe and Bryce Cotten and Evie and William Robertson. One sister Doris Cathy and one Brother Arvel Atkins.
Anita was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church for over 70 years. The family wishes to express gratitude to the caring staff at Belmont Senior Living who treated her with compassion and love.
A graveside service will be held at Smith Cemetery in Big Rock, TN. on Monday, April 29 at 11:00am.
A memorial service will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave Memphis, TN., Tuesday April 30, 11:00am with visitation at 10:00am. In lieu of Flowers, donations maybe given to First Baptist Church Memphis or The American Cancer Society in Anita’s memory.
