Angela Marie Lindsey's Obituary
Angela Marie Lindsey left this world, October 13, 2023, to be with her Lord in heaven, at the age of 89. Angela loved her God and family devoutly. Her high school sweetheart, Jerry Lindsey, was the love of her life throughout their 62 years of marriage. She was a role model, mentor, advisor, and true matriarch to her four children and their families, Stephen Lindsey, (Brad Yount), Teresa Weeden (Gary), Michael Lindsey (Connie), John Lindsey (Ann). “Mamaw”, as she was lovingly named, witnessed and actively participated in all of the lives and milestones of her 10 grandchildren, Jason Lindsey, Kate Snyder (Daniel), Carolyn Mallory (Cameron), Lindsey Jackson(Joe), Nick Lindsey (Catherine), Rachel Lindsey, Kelsey Brewer (Shawn), Hannah Lindsey, Zack Lindsey, and William Lindsey, along with her great grandchildren, Norah Mallory, Mason Mallory, Sam Mallory, June Snyder, Caleb Snyder, Stella Brewer, Skylar Brewer, Tyler Brewer, Scarlette Brewer and Oliver Jackson.
Angela was born on March 14, 1934 to Eddie and Lillian O’Brien in Ocala, Florida. She graduated from Ocala High School, where she met her beloved Jerry. They married on September 27, 1953. Angela and Jerry planted roots in Tampa, Florida where their four children were born. They moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1970 and became strong supporters of their community and church. Angela was a faithful and active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Parish and Church of the Holy Spirit, Memphis, Tennessee. She served in such ministries as Ladies of Charity, Cabrini Circle, Wednesday Night Dinners, and the Women’s Jail Ministry.
Angela’s sweet demeanor and joyful personality endeared her to many friends and acquaintances. She was “mom” to so many friends of her children, that they would return to visit her frequently. Angela’s love of the beach has been instilled in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite beach, Siesta Key, Florida was Angela and Jerry’s annual vacation spot and is now a favorite to all of her family. Angela will be missed and remembered by many, but we are comforted knowing that she is with her Lord and has reunited with her true love, Jerry, in heaven.
She is survived by her two sisters, Mary Ann Fanelli and Deborah O’Brien. Angela is preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Lillian O’Brien; brothers, Richard O’Brien, and Dennis O’Brien; sister, Veronica O’Brien; mother-in-law, Dora Jordan and husband, Jerry Lindsey.
Memorial Park Funeral Home will host the visitation on Wednesday, October 18th from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. followed by a Rosary service. A Mass will be celebrated in her honor at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 19th at the Church of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. A graveside service will follow at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a reception at the Church of the Holy Spirit after the cemetery service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “The Ladies of Charity”.
