Angela "Angie" Griffith York's Obituary
Angela Lynn Griffith York, 54, of Memphis passed away on July 10, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 14, 1963, in Ann Arbor, MI. Angie is survived by her parents, Dan L. and Carol E. Griffith; her brother, Dan S. Griffith; her husband and soulmate Bill York; her stepson Cory York and stepdaughter Melanie York Reilly; as well as her grandson, Owen Reilly. Angie was a fashionista, artist, trend-setter, and a true people person. She loved her many friends. She truly loved the adventure of life and embraced it with an amazing confidence that would turn heads wherever she went. Angie was not one to take the path well-traveled. She was more interested in creating a path of her own. This spirit of adventure touched many people along the way. Angie had many successes in life. She and husband Bill co-hosted Rock of Ages, a popular weekly radio show that aired on WEVL for 10 years. A decade after high school, Angie graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Memphis with a degree in Political Science with a 4.0 GPA. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for 30 years and had a special interest in working in the church’s Clothes Closet. She had a knack for mastering anything that came her way. With a seemingly natural gift for organization and asset management. Angie was an indispensable part of any company for which she worked. Most recently Angie was the Executive Assistant to the CEO of Radians Inc., where her many talents were allowed to shine. This unique blend of quirky, fashionable, organized, forward thinking, trail blazing, devoted, traditionalist made Angie a power house you could not ignore, nor want to. She made her mark on the multitude of friends she had and changed the lives of those she came into contact with. As anyone who knew her would attest, she will be sorely missed and forever cherished. A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church. The service will be followed with a Life Celebration reception 12:00 – 2:00 pm. Anyone wishing to send memorials are asked to make them to the First Presbyterian Church. Memorials will be used to support the First Presbyterian Church Soup Kitchen and Clothes Closet outreach.
