It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Andy J Conlee, who gained his wings on April 16,2025. Born in Memphis, TN, on April 8,1958, Andy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and cherished friend.
Andy worked in auto parts and engine rebuilding. He was a former owner of Conlee Engine Rebuilders. He worked at AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts as a part manager. He spent several years working at Fed Ex. He was an avid collector of baseball memorabilia. During the summer, you could find Andy cheering on the Atlanta Braves. He loved children. His backyard and front yard was often full of kids playing. For five years, he sponsored the Conlee Cardinals, youth baseball, softball and t-ball teams in the Oakhaven neighborhood. Andy loved old classic cars and the ones speeding down a racetrack. For 10 years, he sponsored stock cars at West Memphis Motor speedway and Memphis Motorsports. He enjoyed bowling where he met lifelong friends. He bowled for 20 years at Winchester, Northaven and Billy Hardwicks. He enjoyed watching Memphis Tiger basketball and loved the Beatles. Andy touched many lives of children, co-workers, and friends. He enjoyed making others laugh, feel loved and appreciated.
At 16, Andy fell in love with Betty. A year later, they would skip school and head to the courthouse to pick up a marriage license. The same day, they hurried to a judge’s house near Rhodes College where Betty would change her last name. Little did he know he would end up with 8 children to love and help raise. The children include Sherry Akins, Randall Fisher, Shane German, Hank Simmerman (Amber), Michelle Kennedy (Lamar), Amy Murdock (Jason), Bubba Akins, Stephanie Caradine (Joey) and Michael German.
