Andrew "Drew" Hoyt Crenshaw III's Obituary
Andrew Hoyt Crenshaw III, age 42, passed away on November 22, 2022, in Memphis, Tennessee.
Drew Crenshaw was born at Baptist East Hospital on May 19th 1980, in Memphis to Dr. Andrew H. Crenshaw, Jr. and Marion Majors Crenshaw.
In his youth, Drew was a precocious child full of energy. Despite his relentless teasing, he loved his sisters dearly. He often accompanied his sisters to their horse shows and ballet classes. Always the loyal sibling, Drew was even presented with the Brother of the Year award by the West Tennessee Pony Club.
Known to those who loved him as “Drewbie,” Drew was talented musician and singer. He learned guitar at an early age and was a proud member of the Memphis BoyChoir. An active member in the Memphis music scene, Drew could often be found at Memphis clubs like the Hi-Tone, Murphy’s, the Lamplighter, and the Buchaneer. He shared his love of music with many other musicians, playing in bands including Giant Bear, Hosoi Brothers, Buldgerz, Manatees, Aquarian Blood, Naildriver, and a myriad of others.
A man of many talents, Drew held several careers throughout his life. Machinist at Smith and Nephew, salesman at MHC, and most recently, a lead and asbestos inspector, risk assessor and project manager for Tioga Environmental Consultants.
Drewbie had countless joys in life including music, cars, cooking, the city of Memphis, and of course Memphis barbeque. Those that knew him know that he literally wore his passions on his sleeve through his tapestry of tattoos.
Most of all, Drew loved his son Madog. In their time together, they cooked, rode bikes, played soccer and video games. Those closest to Drew know that this was the greatest joy in his life.
Drewbie will always be remembered as passionate, creative, and above all, loyal to his loved ones.
Drew is preceded in death by his mother, who he loved dearly.
He is survived by his father, Dr. Andrew H. Crenshaw, Jr.; his wife Sarah Sallee Thibodeaux and stepson, Madog William Faraday Thibodeaux; his sister Marion Crenshaw Milner and her husband Robert Rutherford Milner, III; and baby sister Katherine Crenshaw Slezak and her husband Christopher John Slezak; and nephew David Leland Slezak.
Services will be held on December 15th at 2pm in the Fireside Chapel at Memorial Park. The family asks that donations be made to Mid-South Transplant Foundation.
