Alma Jean Wood's Obituary
Alma Jean Wood, 81, of Memphis, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 3, 2012. She graduated from Booneville, MS High School in 1949. Mrs. Wood was a faithful member of Balmoral Baptist Church. She also enjoyed her Wednesday’s Lunch Bunch meetings with friends and Bosom Buddy meetings with fellow breast cancer survivors. Mrs. Wood worked for the W.T. Grant Company Department Store for years before going to work for E.H. Crump and Company in the mid 1970’s. She retired from E.H. Crump and Company after fifteen years as an administrative manager. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandson Dalton and playing with her poodles. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty two years, William Eugene Wood, parents, Dewey D. Williams and Mildred Graham Williams, and a niece Lisa Williams. She is survived by her son, who affectionately called her “Almer”, Michael Wood and his wife Debbi, a brother, Don Williams and his wife Betty of Booneville, MS, a nephew Greg Williams, three nieces, Wendy Scott, and Gerri Ross and Kaye Williams (who were like her sisters), four grandchildren, Dalton, Brandon, Olivia, Bella, and many extended family members on both the Wood and Williams side of the family. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 6, 2012 also at Memorial Park. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Mausoleum.
