Allan Myers Robinson's Obituary
Allan Myers Robinson, died September 30, 2018 after an extended illness. He was born in Memphis in 1931, the son of Mildred Bray and Charles Allan Robinson, and brother of Dorothy Robinson Everett; all of whom are deceased. He leaves his wife Patricia Trotter Robinson; his children, Dr. Allan Myers Robinson, Jr., of New Jersey, Charles Robinson, David B. Robinson of Birmingham, Alabama, Lisa Robinson, four grandchildren, Thomas and Nicholas Robinson of Birmingham, Alabama, Carl Carruthers of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Henley Carruthers of Atlanta, Georgia. Allan attended Snowden, Christian Brothers and Central High School, where he was on the track team. He graduated from The University of Tennessee-Knoxville, earning a BS. Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. After graduation he worked for the well know Quaker Oates company in Memphis for a short time. He also was involved in several civil engineering projects in Memphis. In the evening, he taught courses at CBU. Later, he established his own company, The A.M. Robinson Company, representatives for engineered process equipment. He was the owner and president. That company later grew to become very large with business dealings all over the United States. He then went on to create another company called Data Concepts, later to be known as DCI Corporation. This company served nationwide the United States Bankruptcy Trustees with complete computer systems, technical support and proprietary software. He was very active and longtime member of the Memphis community and Evergreen Presbyterian Church. Allan was a Junior Deacon, Deacon, Elder, and taught Sunday School. Allan was an active member of Chickasaw Country Club, the University Club, as well as Sea Island Golf Club. He particularly enjoyed golfing with friends on some of the most famous golf courses including St. Andrews and many others in Scotland. He and his wife also enjoyed their house at Sea Island, Georgia. They traveled extensively and visited relatives in England. The family will receive family and friends on Friday, October 5th from 1pm until the time of the funeral service at 2pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis. There will be a private graveside service to follow.
