Alice Williams Salter's Obituary
Alice Williams Salter, 79, passed away December 28, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 29, 1936 to James Bascom Williams, Sr. and Annie Bogard Williams. She was the youngest of 10 children. She worked in the credit office at Shainberg’s for 20 years and worked 17 years at Trans Union Credit Bureau, retiring in 2002. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of Central Church. Alice is predeceased by her parents, her 9 siblings, and her husband, D.M. Salter. Alice is survived by the love of her life, her daughter, Kathy Garland; wonderful son-in-law, Gary Garland, 3 grandchildren, John Garland (Ashley), Kathryn Lerner (Gene) all of Memphis and Allison Garland of Chicago; and great grandson, Connor of Memphis. She also leaves 4 dear friends she considered part of her family, Joe and Pam Billings and Latricia and Norris Carter all of Collierville. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until her funeral service begins at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 2 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Central Church.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis TN 38119.
