Alice Wielgosh Hayslip's Obituary
Alice Wielgosh Hayslip, age 88, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2020 in Somerville, TN. Born in Brandon, Wisconsin in 1932, Alice graduated from Beaver Dam High School (Beaver Dam, WI) in 1950. In 1951 she enlisted in the United States Air Force in San Antonio, TX. While in the Air Force she met and later married Howard R. Hayslip in 1956 following her honorable discharge. After establishing a home in Memphis, Alice worked as an executive secretary for the Board of Education – Memphis City Schools for 28 years retiring in 1994. In her post retirement years she would cherish her time by worshiping at Holy Rosary Catholic Church and later St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Somerville, TN. Her ‘retirement’ years were also spent serving in various Memphis City Schools and the Board of Education as a substitute secretary until 2006. An avid lover of animals Alice provided food, shelter, and medical care for stray cats for many years. Surviving family members are her son, James W. Hayslip (Nancy) and daughter, Laura Nickell (HB). Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis has charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers and per instructions of Alice, the family requests any memorial donations be sent to Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, or the Memphis Humane Society.
Given national conditions and the family’s concern for the health and well-being of others, a graveside service will be planned for family and friends at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119, 901-767-8930...."A Fitting Farewell for Everyone".......
