Alice E. Harris' Obituary
Alice McIlvain Harris, age 93, beloved wife and mother, passed away on March 7, 2015. She was a devout Christian, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grand mother. Mrs. Harris was a native of Memphis, TN, and she graduated from Millington High School. After WWII, she married her longtime sweetheart, Calvin Spencer Harris. They lived in the Bethel Grove area of Memphis. They had two children: Janice Ann Harris and Joseph (Joe) Rowland Harris. In 1967, the Harris family moved from Memphis to Olive Branch where they built a new home and later retired. Mrs. Harris was an active member of Gracewood Baptist Church in Southaven, MS. Mrs. Harris is survived by daughter, Janice Kennedy (Ralph), of Nesbit, MS; and son, Joseph (Joe) Rowland Harris (Charlene), of Southaven, MS; four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Spencer Harris and siblings Ernest Vincent McIlvain, Alvin Charles McIlvain, and Dorothy Hinton. Wednesday, March 11, visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 and a memorial service will immediately follow at 2:30 at Gracewood Baptist Church, 8551 Getwell Road, Southaven, MS. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Memphis, TN.
