Alethea Betz Klinke's Obituary
Alethea Betz Klinke Age 102, 10 months, Alethea Betz Klinke peacefully passed away at home in Memphis, TN on June 10, 2013. Born August 23, 1910 in Grenda, MS, she was the second of six children of Ernest and Katherine Weeks Betz, of Grenada, MS. In the 1930’s, after attending college in St. Louis, MO, she worked as a qualified Laboratory Technician in Memphis, where she met and married C. Fletcher Klinke, a manager in the dairy products business. For many years, Mrs. Klinke was a skilled and admired volunteer seamstress and costume designer for Theater Memphis. A year of failing eyesight and hearing loss limited her favorite past times; listening to sports and working crosswords puzzles. To the last, she was of keen memory and sharp mind. Much of her adult life was selflessly dedicated to the care of her parents, siblings and sharing the love of her extended family. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Charles ‘Judy’ Betz Ferguson of Memphis. Mrs. Klinke leaves behind beloved nephews, a niece; great and great-great nephews and niece. While living most of her life in Memphis, TN, Mrs. Klinke attended the Lindenwood Christian Church. Visitation will be at Memphis’s Memorial Park Fireside Chapel, June 15, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., with Funeral Service immediately following at 11:30 Memphis.
