Albert Lehman's Obituary
Col. Albert Carter Lehman, USA. Ret., 80, of Germantown, TN passed away on May 18, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Florine Lehman; two daughters; two sisters; and six grandchildren. He was a retired U.S. Army Colonel, graduating from West Point in 1952. Col. Lehman was awarded multiple commendations throughout his military career including; Legion of Merit 3D OLC, Bronze Star Medal 1st OLC, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Parachutist Badge, National Defense Service Medal 1st OLC, 6 Oversea Service Bars, and the United Nations Service Medal. Carter Lehman had the unique opportunity to gain experience from three sides of the construction industry- government, contractor, and owner. He served 24 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers before retiring with the rank of Colonel from the position of District Engineer of the Memphis District. He held the post of Vice President of Farrell Construction Company in Memphis for eight years, and then made the move to what was then known as Federal Express in 1984. He served Fed Ex for 19 ½ years. He was most recently Senior Manager for Facility Management and Construction, and his responsibilities included commercial construction projects throughout the United States as well as managing and maintaining over four million square feet of office/warehouse space in Memphis. His most recent major project was the 1,100,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art FedEx Express World Headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 on Friday, May 20, 2011 and the funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011, both at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
