Aaron V Melton Jr's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Aaron V. Melton Jr. (Pop) announces his passing on Saturday April 6, 2024, at the age of 87. After being a resident of the VA home in Oxford, Mississippi for approximately 5 months he passed away peacefully at the Oxford Hospital.
Pop loved and served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He spoke of his time serving in Morocco often.
A.V. was preceded in death by his beautiful wife and best friend of 66 years, Mrs. Loyce Melton and one grandchild Robert (baby Bobby) . He leaves behind his children whom all loved him very much. Tim Melton (Callie) of Oxford Mississippi, Ken Melton (Sherlyn) of Olive Branch Mississippi, and Karen Chandler of Boliver Tennessee. He also left six grandchildren, Chuck, Angie, Valerie, Casey, Justin and Katelyn, as well as six great grandchildren, Emily, Lillian, Landon, Harrison, Lawson, and Kinsley.
Pop retired after 26 years with the Coca Cola Bottling company and truly loved drinking his “Coke” brand. He loved his church family at Goodman Oaks Church of Christ. He loved his wife and family very much.
A.V. was a cowboy at heart. He loved all of God’s creatures especially his horses. He loved his lunches with his brother and friends each month. He was a sweet kind man with a beautiful smile and joking personality.
The family welcomes friends to celebrate Pops memory with funeral services being held Monday April 15 at 2:00 at Memorial Park Funeral Home 5668 Poplar Memphis, Tn 38119. Visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 1:00pm.
