A. Thi Tran's Obituary
A Thị Trần, known as “A” to her many friends and “mẹ or ma” to her family, passed away battling cancer on February 14, 2021 at age 67.
She was born in Huế, Vietnam on October 12, 1954, to Cũ Bá Nguyễn and Tuyên Thị Võ as her parents. In 1971, she married Hải Thanh Nguyễn, and they shared a 50-year-long marriage. Together with six children at the time, they sailed as refugee and arrived in North America for a better life in 1990.
A Thị Trần was a very small woman, but her heart and compassion for others were like no other. Anyone that ever met her would be surprised to believe that she conceived and raised nine wonderful children. She was illiterate but because of her determination she became a naturalized citizen in January 2017. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and being around her eighteen grandchildren. She lived a very simple life but was loved by her husband, children, and grandchildren.
She leaves behind her husband Hải Thanh Nguyễn and nine children – Châu Thanh Nguyễn, Lan Thị Nguyễn, Bé (Lilian) Thị Nguyễn, Bé Thị Nguyễn, Phương Thanh Nguyễn, Long Thanh Nguyễn, Jimmy Thanh Nguyễn, Mary Thị Rocha Nguyễn , and Eric Thanh Nguyễn. She leaves eighteen grandchildren who loved their “bà ngoại and bà nội ” – Kelly Thị Nhung Nguyễn, Nicholas Thanh Sang Nguyễn, Benjamin Thanh Vương Nguyễn, Britney Thảo Nguyễn, Joshua Hiếu, Hannah Vân Nguyễn, Hân (Alex) Gia Trương, Nghi (Jessica) Gai Trương, Athan Gia Trương, Ivan Gia Trương, Abbie Thùy Linh Cao, Phebie Thùy Linh Cao, Giselle Đào Nguyễn, Lucas Thanh Nguyễn, Lukà Alexander Nguyễn, Enzo Maxwell Nguyễn, Mateo Sebastián Nguyễn, and Thiago Galileo Rocha. She was dearly loved by her family and friends, and although she will be dearly missed by all, we rejoice that she will follow her next path in the afterlife.
Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis, on Sunday, February 21, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and the service will be held Monday, February 22, 2021 at 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM also at Memorial Park.
