April 19, 1945 - February 9, 2022
Maureen McMahon Patton “But deep this truth impress’d my mind. Thro’ all His works abroad. The heart benevolent and kind. The most resembles God.” -Robert Burns Maureen went to be with her heavenly Father on February 9, 2022. Maureen, known to many as Reenie, was a person of tremendous love and compassion for others. Her life centered on faith, family, animals and nature. She had a light within her that shone brightly, guiding her to seek out ways to help others. She had the truest of hearts, giving of herself to those around her. The power of the Holy Spirit was strong in her and her faith was steadfast. Her love of family and the joy she found in family reunions and in the sharing of memories will be remembered fondly. Her love of animals was admirable and her support for their welfare was enduring. Her enjoyment of nature and the splendors of God’s creation were rest and refuge on her journey in life. Her bright smile lives on in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Martyn McMahon, her mother Mary Hoyt Cowles Christy, her dear sister Sally Wiklin, her canine companion Jenny and her feline companions Mittens, Muffin, Buddy and Elsa. She is survived by her children Mary Hoyt and Margaret (Bill); her dear sisters Sheila and Elisabeth; her aunt Sally; her grandchildren Zach, Lola and Leilani; nephew Ben and nieces Tina, Julie and Nanci; cousins Tom, Barbie and Mimi and their respective families. Maureen’s memorial service will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 at 2pm with burial following at Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Maureen’s family requests that donations be made to the Humane Society or ASPCA. ‘And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
