We receive many letters from the families we've served, thanking us for our caring ways during their time of loss. Their words warm our hearts, and speak to you of our professionalism, compassion, and the true value of the services we provide.

My husband and I attended the May 30th Memorial Day Service and want to say "thank you" for the work and effort you put into it! It was so wonderful, the whole program with presentation, anthem singer, prayers, Boy Scouts, cannon, civil air patrol etc. Everyone should be commended on the event! We appreciate the golf cart ride to & from our car, the water and food as extra benefits not expected. You went beyond what was needed and we noticed it. Please know you did the nicest things for those attending and your appreciated more than you know!

I wanted to thank the Staff and Funeral Directors who handled the viewing and Funeral ceremony. With the challenges of weather, straight line winds, the loss of power and the disruption of your initial plans. Your professional and competent demeanor maintained the dignity of the viewing and visitation for the family and officers present. The ceremony at the Church also presented numerous challenges as well. And again the staff and Funeral Directors displayed outstanding patience and compassion for the family and all present. Please commend all involved in both ceremonies. Shelby County Sheriff B.O

On behalf of my family I want to commend your employee, Roosevelt Brown, for years of caring for myself and my family as we have buries my parents, my son J. and infant daughters A. and S. at Memorial Park. I have regularly tended their graves since 1986 and have needed Roosevelt in many situations. He is skillful with the backhoe but more importantly is reliable, caring, diligent and comforting in his service. His ministry to me and my family, any time, any where and any way has been healing and caring - just what Memorial Park is all about

I can't say enough about how helpful everyone was during this difficult time. The only suggestions would be to encourage young adults to save money for unexpected situations like a death. I was very overwhelmed having to pay for my sisters funeral on 3 credit cards.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers during this time. We appreciate your support and encouragement in our time of need. God Bless you and your families.

Dear Memorial Park Team - I am writing one note to all of you, because all of you ( many I do not know names) made the experience of handling my mother's death a much easier one that I ever could have expected. From the time we called, your preparedness with her information, your compassion, your flexibility, your availability, your knowledge and expertise, you attention to detail, your willingness to accommodate and your follow up for many months after her funeral was all outstanding. I can not imagine a better group of people any where else. My siblings and I thank you for serving us so well.

Dear Jay - Thank you. That says it all, yet it doesn't seem to be quite enough. Our family appreciated your support and extra efforts more than you can know. I also thank you and shall treasure the US Navy coin you gave me to honor my father. Your attention to detail is what sets you apart. We will be in touch with you in the very near future. Thank you again for everything.

To the Staff of Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery - Once again ( and forevermore) I'm saying thank you. This time for your generosity toward our family during "M's" celebration service. Your donation in her memory was unexpected as you had already gone above and beyond... Yet, deeply appreciated. When my father and my husbands parents and grandparents were buried at M.P. many years ago our families were impressed by the condolences we received there and now this gift continues.

Memorial Park Staff - Thank you all so much for the flowers you sent for my mothers funeral service on Feb. 10. They were beautiful and your kindness and thoughtfulness is very much appreciated from our family

Both Brad and Butch were professional yet caring when my elderly Aunt and I arrived to make the arrangements for J's brothers funeral. They were patient and kind in every possible way toward J. who they realized quickly was emotionally and physically drained. They offered suggestions, advice and alternatives. They both repeatedly explained and re-explained various aspects for the service, casket and vault selection and flower choices. When I dropped off clothing at an unexpected time, Gregory Griffin quickly and courteously accepted the clothing and handled it as if it were the clothes of a King. Butch should be given a gold medal for his knowledge and manner of presenting J. and myself with our grave marker or headstone choices. With his expertise we were able to choose the very headstone that will mean the most to J. He presented each option and repeatedly explained the differences without once trying to encourage or suggest an upgrade. He went out of his way to make J. comfortable in making "her" decision, not his preference. Butch went the extra mile to provide me with information regarding several "unused" grave sites that are family owned, but will most likely never be utilized by a family member. I will personally recommend both Brad Farmer and Butch Valentine by name to any of my friends or acquaintances who are planning funerals or who may be planning on in the near future. That are an asset to Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Dear Michelle - Just a small way of saying "thank you". This is also to tell you again how very much we enjoyed our little visit with you on Saturday at Memorial Park. Everything was just about perfect: the weather, the beautiful surroundings in the park, lots of smiling faces from the employees, and even the tolling of the bell from the construction on Poplar Street. It was such a nice afternoon. We really enjoyed ourselves! We were especially appreciative and overwhelmed with all the wonderful information you shared with us about our "Pre-planning Funeral Arrangements." We'll forever be thankful to you for answering our many questions in a clear and understandable manner, you were AWESOME! Michelle, we feel so comfortable telling and recommending to our family and friends about the outstanding services you offer at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Again, thank you for your kindness and your warm assistance.

Dear Mr. Hamliton - when i visited the park today i was so pleased to see how nicely the grounds are being maintained. The flower beds are so bright, cheerful, and neat, and grass and trees so well kept. The standing markers are so impressive addition. I appreciate the hard work that it takes to keep particularly a summer garden in good shape and I'm sure others like myself are grateful to visit their loved ones in such lovely surroundings.

Dear Mr. Randall - I wanted to commend Ms. Charlotte Powers for the outstanding job she did for me and my family following the death of my father on 11/29/2012. Ms. Powers made me aware of the discount program you have for family members to purchase property at Memorial Park for a period of time following another family member's death. When I told her that I was interested in investigating the options, she met with me and my wife on numerous occasions, going over all the details, driving us around the grounds, and generally making us feel comfortable with the whole process. She was never pushy, but was always dependable to call when she said she would. I could have easily procrastinated my way past the deadline to make a decision, but she kept everything on track in a professional and courteous manner. Ms. Powers did an outstanding job for my wife and me and I thought you would like to know, and should know. We are pleased with our decision, and enjoyed working with her. I would recommend her to anyone in need of her services

Firstly, I would like to apologize for the tardiness of this letter. It has been quite some time before I have been able to sit down to compose this letter. I am writing to you about two gentlemen that touched our lives on Christmas Eve. My father, H.L.T., passed away at his home in the early morning hours of December 24th. Mr. George Roseburg and Mr. Chuck Vinson from Memorial Park arrived for Dad. They were more than kind, caring and gracious in a difficult moment. Dad had 24- hour care and the day healthcare provider, J.P., came to be with the family and help my mother. I cannot tell you how appreciative I was for J’s coming to be with us. The family had a prayer before Dad left home and J. returned to her car to give the family some space. From the street came two long blasts from a car horn. My husband went to see what the problem was, promptly returning to call 911; Joyce was in cardiac arrest. The hospice nurse, George Roseburg, Chuck Vinson, and I flew to the car to see if we could give any assistance. Frankly, I was totally useless, but the hospice nurse, George Roseburg, and Chuck Vinson stepped right up and started working as a team administering CPR. The Fire Department arrived and immediately began working on J. They eventually transported her to the ER accompanied by my husband. I am very sad to say J. passed away that morning. Mr. Roseburg and Mr. Vinson never lost their composure and immediately returned to tending to Dad. A lasting image I will always have is one of these gentlemen kneeling before my mother, offering a red rose and a message of condolence. It was difficult to lose my father but to have another death within just a few short hours was so very hard to comprehend, and at Christmas too. The service and care we received from everyone at Memorial Park was personal and above expectation. Aaron Hazen caringly helped us with the arrangements, and Jason Dixon was meticulous and attentive with visitation and the service. Marsha Jones saw to every detail of Dad’s final resting place. However, Mr. George Roseburg and Mr. Chuck Vinson represented Memorial Park Funeral Home above and beyond all expectations and did so with great poise and professionalism on that early Christmas Eve morning. I hope you will extend to them my mother’s and my great appreciation.

I would like to post about the excellent care we had during my mother's funeral, L.K.H , in October 2014. We were so impressed with how this rite has evolved since our father's passing in 1998. Every wish or thought we had was immediately implemented creatively with none of the effort on our part. Design of the program, music, contacting the minister, visitation requests, video, and flower colors and style became "fun" choices (an odd idea) at such a sad time. L and G were intelligent and empathetic without the moroseness one fears with these duties. Please convey to them or use any of this you wish to assure others how happy we were with the funeral of Lorna Klyce Hilbun. We left feeling like old friends. Hi Ann Russell! Sorry it took me so long to do this. G.H.C

G.H.C

To the Staff - Please accept again my sincere gratitude for the professionalism, care and attention given to my mom and me. This fortunately was the first funeral that I have had to arrange and each of you helped me tremendously. Hannah and Pete were especially kind in helping begin the process and Brad and Sarah were part of my "rock" during Friday the 7th of November.

To Whom it may Concern - I recently, and quite unexpectedly I found myself in Memphis. As I have relatives and very close family friend at Memorial Park, I , on the spur of the moment stopped in. Not sure that I could find who I'd be looking for, especially the family friend, I was most graciously greeted and helped by your staff members. First a thin you man out outside, then Ms Patrick in the office, and was escorted to the correct locations by a gentleman named Raoul I believe. I really wanted to say thanks to Memorial Park and these Staff Members for their helpfulness and kindness.

J.P.

Dear Mr. Farmer and Staff - My Family and I would like to express our gratitude for the preparations made with regard to our loved one's funeral. The limo service which picked us up at our home and the police escort were so special and touching. We greatly appreciate what you did to make that possible.

B.M.

Thank each of you for all your help with the service. I thought everything was fine and she looked so pretty. She is finally at peace and so happy so I have to be too.

Terry, thank you for your patience and diligence during the preparation and culmination of our mom's memorial service. Your are an asset to your profession and a blessing to us.

Dear Brad, I am writing to compliment one of the employees at Memorial Park Cemetery. I grew up in Memphis and have been visiting this cemetery since my Grandfather was buried there in 1960. My Dad is now buried there, W. R., Jr. and I live out of state in Charlotte, NC. I ordered flowers for his birthday recently and they arrived on August 7th in the office. A very kind gentleman took them immediately to the grave and very tenderly placed them in the vase as well as cleaned the marker. The reason I know this is an amazing story to me. I have a dear friend who happened to be visiting family in Memphis and went to my Dad's grave. She just "happened" to arrive at his grave as he was delivering the flowers. She took a video on her cell phone recording the whole process. They had a nice conversation and she shared the story with him of how we were dear friends, and since I couldn't visit his grave, she would go in my absence. As she was sharing this story and video with me, both of us were moved to tears, not only from our own emotion but also for the kindness and care this employee showed to her. He treated the delivery of the flowers and cleaning of the marker with such care. This gentleman is to be commended for his fine work and for the concern and care he gives to his work. I hope it will be possible to know who delivered these flowers to my Dad's grave and had the nice conversation with my friend.

D.S.

Dear Michael and Memorial Park Staff - Thank you for the beautiful red rose you sent to N.'s visitation. We want to thank you for helping us plan and arrange everything for visitation and the funeral. You and your staff were so kind and comforting to us in our time of great grief. We will always remember your kindness and helpfulness always.

Mr. Renfro & Mr. Kraft, On behalf of the Metro Nashville Police Department, we would like to thank you both for the wonderful service Memorial Park provided to our department and especially to the family of our fallen officer, Michael Petrina. Your staff went above and beyond to assist us with not only planning, but with providing room for us to work and plan in the funeral home! This extremely difficult situation was made so much better because of the staff that you have in place. From the first moment we met Mr. Micheal Gramling in Nashville to bring Officer Petrina home, we were treated like family. Your entire staff was unbelievable to us, and speaking of your staff, Hannah Richards was nothing less than a Godsend! She was an invaluable resource to us and she made herself personally available to us all week. From her contacts with the police departments and fire departments to the way she assisted the family with their every request, she deserves to be commended. She is a true asset to your team. Thank you both so much for creating such a positive workplace in such an unusual place. If we can ever be of assistance to you here in Nashville, please let us know. Thanks!

Captain K.S.

Memorial Park Staff- Thank you so very much for your assistance in planning the service and for helping make it a beautiful and comforting tribute to my wife. Everything was just as I had asked for and the family and I could not have been more pleased! Your professionalism along with your caring and sincere approach made this difficult task much easier. Thank you again and my god bless.

Mr. Gramling - I wish to express a heartfelt thanks to you and each member of the Memorial Park Staff for the case with the lovely red rose & baby's breath. I am very grateful to you for the assistance you gave us with such ease and expertise while making the final arrangements for my mother. In addition, each one of the extra services offered to us by Memorial Park, including those on the website for the family, means so very much to us; making us feel special and making my Mother and her live very special too. For taking the time to have additional note cards printed for me, I am truly thankful as well. In the future, may God richly bless Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery... and each and every one of you and your families.

Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery ( Hannah - Funeral Director), Thank you so much for your donation to the Memphis / Shelby County Law Enforcement Foundation in memory of our Mom / Wife. We would also like to thank Hannah for her friendly manner and excellent professionalism - in helping us through the process. We immediately felt comfortable with Hannah and she worked so well with our Pastor, Jeff Findlay. Y'all did a great job and we truly thank you. Mom always supported law enforcement ( she had to - I am a retired Fed agent) ! So again thanks so much for the kind donation.

Michael Gramling & the Memorial Park Staff - Our family wants to thank you all for your caring, support and great job well done. Also thank you for the beautiful flowers.

The family of B. B. and I would like to thank you and your professional staff, which includes Steve West, Lucy West, Phillip Hamilton and Wade Kelley. They went way beyond during the funeral and burial process of Mr. B. With the stress of having to travel 350 miles for the committal service, your staff was very professional and helpful in every way. They made us feel at home and took care of every detail requested by the family. As funeral directors, my wife and I went away knowing that the family had a very satisfying experience with your firm. To put into words of the late Bill Bates of Life Appreciation Seminars, "It was good and meaningful funeral." Please let the staff know that they performed a service well done. I hope our paths cross again.

K.R. July 31, 2013

Dear Aaron - Thank you and your colleagues for the generous donation to the Memphis police foundation in memory of my father. We can't tell you how much your professionalism in handling his service and your genuine concern meant to our family. Your kindness warms the heart.

J.P. July 08, 2013

We appreciate everything you all did to help us in arranging the service and visitation for our mother. Everyone was so kind and helpful. Aaron than you for taking care of all the details to make everything run so smoothly.

R.R. April 30, 2013

Dear Mr. Gramling, From the time six weeks ago that Mrs. Lucie Roane (widow, the late Rev. Roane) said to speak with you, our Family has benefited from a significant increased peace of mind. As you and I discussed, our Mother, is under full hospice care and the batteries are quickly running down. Our objective has been two-fold: (1) to keep her in her own home and (2) allow her to live as comfortably and stress-free as possible. Your assignment of Ms. Tammy King as our Family Service Counselor is proving a wonderful fit. Ms. King took the time to come and meet our Mother last week while she is still with us. Following their long private conversation, we decided to proceed with a full basic commitment to Memorial Park at the basic level. Over the next month we expect to flesh out a few more details, particularly after Crossroads Hospice completes their Book of Memories around which the specific nature of further memorial services will be determined. Although a small matter in the scope of Memorial Park's business, I cannot say enough about Ms. King's natural compassion. Even though relatively new to your business, Ms. King has a rare natural compassion for what people go through. In my experience as a business executive and, more recently, a university instructor, Ms. King's core skills are uncommon while still being able to comfort someone as acutely aware in life as our Mother. SO, Mr. Gramling, many thanks to you. And I hope you and I will be able to meet in the near future.

D.P. April 01, 2013

Our family and friends all commented on what a beautiful service we had. Everyone at Memorial Park was friendly and professional with compassion. Michael and Joy Holt were very thorough and helpful, and they were very easy to get in contact with. I appreciate this act of kindness very much. J’s “Celebration of Life” was lovely. The programs were perfect. The baby grand piano perfect, the newspaper article nice, and how helpful you were to do all of this for me. Phillip Hamilton was in charge the day of the funeral. What a wonderful man he was to help me! What comfort I felt through his guidance. Please thank him for me. Thank you.

C.J.

To the many people who work at Memorial Park Funeral Home, I want to say thank you. My mother recently died and you took care of her and of us as we wandered around trying to find our balance. Every single person we met held out a hand, wore a sweet expression, and helped us find a room, a chair, a glass of water, a bathroom or whatever else we needed. The traffic controllers were fabulous. They had patience and softness to their voiced instructions that touched us deeply. We noticed their respect and kindness. How did you find this kind of human beings who stood in the rain and the dark and managed to make us think they were honored to be there? We thank you all. I only remember Tempia and Aaron’s names. But I bet you God knows them and blesses you all.
