December 15, 1923 - November 7, 2021
Lois Sohn died November 7, 2021, at the age of 97. She was born in McCook, Nebraska, into a family that would have 5 children. After graduating from St John’s College in Winfield, KS, She worked as a secretary in St. Louis. She survived her parents and all her siblings. Lois married Robert Sohn and worked as the quintessential proverbs 31 wife, in an ideal Proverbs 31 marriage, for the rest of her life. When Bob was in the army, she was in the civilian support of the military at Fort Leonard Wood. When he was a teacher and principal in Memphis, she taught as well. When he went to school to become a dentist, she went to school and became a certified dental assistant. Together, they built, staffed, entertained, played, educated in the Word, inspired, supported, maintained, and provided temporary housing for the whole visible Church, in obedience to Christ’s command to be humble and open hearted. Her survivors include, but are not limited to, both of her own sisters’ children, the nieces and nephews of Doc’s family, all of her god-children, all of the children of Immanuel Lutheran church for the last sixty years and her brother-in-law, Larry, with his wife, Ellen. Lois, Doc, her nephew, Fred, and his wife, Janelle, “adopted” her sister, Leni, when she was widowed, and helped her until her death. Like everyone who met Lois, Leni didn’t have to face the world alone. After their husbands died in 2012, Lois and her sister, Dorothy, also presented a strong united front of the Church to the church. The two of them are my heroines. Lois was a constant witness to the glory of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, even from her hospital beds. I’m reasonably sure that each of you has a Lois story or memory of your own. If you have a moment and want to share it, please send it to [email protected] I will compile whatever is received there and ask Immanuel to find a spot for them. Praise God for rescuing Lois and welcoming her home.
