James “Ford” Newman, Jr., 88, of Memphis, TN, died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. He was born on April 22, 1933 in Ripley, TN. He served in the Army during the Korean War, honorably discharged as a corporal. He worked for First American Title Insurance Company for 39 years. He belonged to the Home Builders Association and was a member of the Board of Realtors. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Pitts Newman, his brother, Norman E Newman and his parents, Josephine and Ford Newman, Sr. Ford was an avid Memphis Tiger fan, enjoying sports of all kinds. He loved animals and always had a very special pet to care for from Scamp to Tom. He loved his family, particularly proud and protective of his daughter, Lisa. He enjoyed his extended family and reveled in their accomplishments and happiness. They all held him in high regard as well. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Newman of Memphis, his sister-in law, Nell Newman, nieces and nephews Chip Newman (Lynn), Neal Newman (Sharis), Natalie Johnson, Nick Newman (Kendra), Karen Beckwith, Jeff McNeil (Sheila), Doug McNeil (Heather), and David McNeil (Sarah). He is also survived by 18 grandnieces and nephews and 7 great-grandnieces and nephews. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home with a graveside service at 12:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.
