Jacquelyn Turner Middleton was born in Memphis, Tennessee July 22, 1930 to her parents Leroy Percy Turner and Mildred Frear Turner and she ended her battle with cancer at the age of 91 on March 13, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James Waldo Middleton and grandson, Scott Blevins and nephew, Andrew Turner. She is survived by her brother, Butch Turner (Nancy), 3 children, Valerie S. Lisa, Vickie M. Blevins (Gwynn “Bud”), and June M. Barbas (Rick). “Mama Jack” was grandmother to Matthew Hipsher, (Karin), Joseph Lisa, Cole Freeman (Katie), Michael Blevins (Cecilia), Ariana Poll (Nathan), Andrew Barbas, Nathan Barbas, Roma Andews (Cory), William Barbas (Kiley), Aaron Barbas (Lacey), and Sean Barbas. She leaves 11 great grandchildren and many nieces nephews and cousins. She earned an associate degree from Columbia College in Missouri and moved back to Memphis shortly after college. She was a member of the Wesley Memorial Evangelical Methodist Church and then at Colonial Park Methodist Church. She was employed by Holiday Inns in an administrative role in the Security Department for 12 years. During that time she joined the International Toastmasters Club. Hot Springs, Arkansas was one of her favorite vacation spots and like a second home to her. She spent time dining out and boating on the lake with many friends and family. She loved trips to the beach as well and enjoyed several ocean cruises with family and friends. Kirby Pines Retirement Community was the place she called home for her last 12 years. She was known for her warm smile and was an ambassador for the organization wherever she went. Her hobbies included swimming, dancing, bridge, and art in her younger years. Later she enjoyed watching movies, theater, and reading and listening to classical music. She was quite a photographer of family and friends all her life and she generously shared and organized albums which have become family treasures. She was a strong, independent, loving woman and was always appreciative of everything done for her. She passed away peacefully at her daughter, June’s home with her family at her side. Services will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home at 5668 Poplar Avenue on Saturday, March 26, 2022 with family visitation at 9:30 a.m., friends visitation at 10:00 a.m., and service starting at 11:00 a.m. in the Fireside Chapel with internment to follow on the cemetery grounds. Flowers are welcome as well as contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis.
