It was an honor to know him through STC. He will be missed.
I will keep David in my heart. He was a dear friend and colleague, never to be forgotten. He had the ability to embrace a new acquaintance in his abundant warmth and connect immediately. True to his career as a wordsmith, he always said just the right thing at the appropriate time, whether to make us laugh or to make us dig a little deeper for some important insight. He was more than intelligent. He was wise — seasoned by his own life experiences and his ability to relate to the experiences of his friends. What a loss to all of us who loved him!! We will miss him terribly.
I met Dr. Armbruster as a PhD student and as a faculty member. He was instrumental in helping me with structure and format of my dissertation, before the common use of computers! He was kind and thoughtful, never making me feel like a fool that I probably was. Honored to have known him.
I, along with so many others …at Calvary, at Trezevant…..will miss David. He was a favorite of so many of us. I thought I might be going along to our Boar’s Head Feast with him and others, as I did last year. I loved him for the sweet cheerful person he was. Such a loss. I can only imagine the pain his family feels over this sudden loss. My heart goes out to you all.
I am so sad to have lost a bright star in my universe. David and I were professional and personal friends for many years, and I cherish the many memories I have of him — Russian dancing, shopping at Southern Seasons, long discussions, visiting museums, lots of eating and chatting — and above all laughter!I would like to know what David’s favorite charity was so I can make a contribution to it.
