Darrell Dewayne Adams was born to Teresa Adams and the late Darrell Jones, Sr. on February 24, 1987, in Memphis, Tennessee. He attended East High School while maintaining jobs such as McDonald’s and Chick-fil-A. After he completed high school, he became a cable guy in Nashville, Tennessee. Later he was employed with Smith & Nephew. He earned his associates degree in HVAC from Vatterott College. In 2013, he joined the Shelby County Sherriff’s Department as a correctional officer. On April 6, 2016, he joined the Memphis Police Department, his dream job. Darrell was the oldest of five children and was the backbone of the family. To know him was to love him. He was the most genuine, kindhearted individual. Darrell met the love of his life, Cherrish Banks Adams, in 2013 when they were co-workers. They fell in love on February 24, 2017, and from then were inseparable. They were joined in holy matrimony on August 15, 2020. Their love touched so many family members and friends. Darrell leaves to mourn his loving wife, Cherrish; unborn child; his adopted nephew, Quinterious Adams; nieces, Taniyah Adams, Lazarrius Adams, Kamarius Adams, Amaya Jones, and London Jones; brothers, Dominique Jackson and Darrell Jones, Jr.; sisters, Keyerric Arnold and Daryce Jones; mother, Teresa Adams; grandmother, Brenda Adams; grandfather, Sammy Adams, Sr. (Betty) and Herbert Jordan; uncles, Sammy Adams, Jr. (Betty), Patrick Adams (Sherika), Zack Adams, Ralph Adams, Paul Adams, and Little Sammy Adams; aunts, Sharon Wright-Gibson, Rachel Jackson, Angie Jackson, and Jackie Adams; mother-in-love, Margaret Banks; father-in-love, Jerome Banks; sister-in-love, Lajoivis Banks (Sam and Nova); brothers-in-love, Jomie Banks, Jerome Banks, Jr. (Marchelle), and Coraney Banks (Ashley, Cody, Corey, and Courtney); grandmother-in-love, Cora Winfrey and grandfather-in-love, Herbert Winfrey. He also leaves to mourn two special friends Bobby Adams and Darrius Haywood along with a host of cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Monday, October 11th at Hope Church. Memphis Police Dept. has organized a Sea of Blue to depart Hope Church and travel though the city to pay tribute at 7:00 p.m. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 2th at Hope Church. Officer Adams will receive full honors immediately following the service at Memorial Park Cemetery.
