I had the distinct pleasure of knowing, and working with, 'David' throughout his 40 year career with the Internal Revenue Service. Although he worked in the Southeast and I worked in the Washington, DC area during this time, we worked on many task forces and instructed many IRS training classes together. David was a superb instructor. In addition to being a very effective teacher, students found him to be highly entertaining. He had a quick-wit and dry sense of humor. His obscure references to his favorite movies and old TV shows would often have students (as well as me) laughing out loud.
David and I both retired from the IRS several years ago, but we stayed in touch via emails and frequent phone calls. Many of our conversations were spent reminiscing about the 'good ole' days at the IRS and joking & laughing about our shared interest In old movies ('It's a Wonderful Life' was favorite for both of us) and TV westerns from the 1950s and 60s.
David was a dear friend who will be greatly missed. He dealt courageously with his illness the past two years, and I am truly honored to have had him as my friend. He was definitely one of the 'good guys'! My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with his two sisters and his entire family -- a family that he spoke of fondly quite often.
