Ronald S. Cook
May 14, 1949 - April 22, 2020
Ronald “Ronnie” S. Cook, 70, of Memphis, TN, went home to be with the Lord April 22, 2020. Born May 14, 1949 in Memphis, Ronnie was the son of the late Jesse “Joe” Cook and Bethel Cook. Ronnie graduated from Kingsbury High School where he later started his career working with the Donald Furniture Company. At 28, he decided to open his own furniture store, “The Clique” on the Highland Strip in the U of M area. Ronnie was a natural born salesman. After starting a family, he decided to go on the road to become a sales rep for furniture manufacturers in and around the south. During this time, he also started his own buying group. After many years in the furniture industry, he made a career change to work in the commercial real estate business. He was Director of Leasing at American Properties and later did consulting work before retiring. Most important and above all else, Ronnie was a devout Christian throughout his life. Whether it be business or personal, he was always working for the Lord. He never passed on an opportunity to reach out and encourage those in need and tell them about the Gospel. He considered himself a street preacher and would spread God’s word at every path that his life would take him. Ronnie was a Veteran and loved his country. He really enjoyed traveling throughout the US, seeing and experiencing new places and meeting new people from all walks of life. Ronnie loved sports, especially baseball, where his favorite team was the St. Louis Cardinals. He rarely missed a game and he especially enjoyed watching with family. He had a deep appreciation for music across many genres. Watching his favorite acts perform live over the years was always a highlight. He loved to spend time with family, especially playing board games and music trivia with them. Ronnie is survived by his loving wife and soulmate of 38 years, Eileen; 5 children, Holly Cook of Memphis, Adam Cook of Memphis, Steve Cook of Springfield, MO, Matt Cervetti of Memphis, and Mark Cervetti of Memphis; 5 grandchildren and 2 brothers, Mike and Sam Cook. Due to current guidelines for Covid-19 in our area, an intimate family only graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, April 27, 2020. Any memorial donations can be made in honor of Ronnie to the Memphis Food Bank. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
