Richard "Dick" David Oliver

Richard “Dick” David Oliver, 81, passed on December 3, 2021 surrounded by his family at Sacred Heart Hospital in Miramar Beach, Florida. He was born in Baxter Springs, Kansas on July 15, 1940. He is succeeded in death by his wife, Marilyn Oliver; his mother, Margaret “Mimi” Oliver (Memphis, TN); his father, Charles “Hank”Oliver and bonus mother, Marie “Nanny” Oliver (CO) and his brother Bob Oliver (CO). He is survived by his daughters, Dienese Wilson (Randal) of Piperton and Sheila Johnson (Johnny) of Cordova. Dick experienced his greatest joy in life spending time with his grandchildren, Matthew Wilson (Lindsey), Meghan Johnson, and Michael Johnson (Mallory) and his great grandchild, Henry Wilson. He is also survived by his sisters, Kathy Sorrell (Memphis, TN), Terri Priday (Mark) (CO) and brother, Mike Oliver (Memphis. TN). Dick was drafted into the United States Army (4th Infantry Division, Sixth United States Army) in 1960 and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War receiving multiple honors and medals including the Purple Heart and four Bronze Stars. He was honorably discharged on August 11, 1972. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 10th, at 12:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave., Memphis, TN 38119. A private burial ceremony for his children and grandchildren will follow at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.
