The world is less interesting without Paul.
To his family, I send my deepest condolences. I first met Paul in kindergarten, and we fast became school friends. We shared a love of baseball and learning the German language. For four years we sat beside each other in German class and shared laughs and stories about our young lives.
From a very early age, Paul let us know he would become a pilot…and maybe even an astronaut.
For most of us, at some point in our young lives we develop a plan for what we want to become as an adult. What was so impressive about Paul was that: he had his life plan together faster than most of us; he executed his plan with flawless precision; and, he relished every moment in the journey.
I last saw Paul at our 10-year high school reunion. He was well on his way to fulfilling all his dreams. From all accounts, he lived an exceptional life — and Paul was an exceptional person.
Celebrate this extraordinary man and his legacy! He is missed, but never forgotten.
