Nancy Jane Warren, nee Gavin, 92, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 25, 2020, in her home surrounded by her children after a full and joyful life. She was born in Memphis on July 19, 1927 to James and Lucile Gavin. She treasured being brought up with 6 sisters and 1 brother and was blessed with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Nancy relished family gatherings and took great joy in hosting a festive Christmas Eve party for her family for many years. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings Margaret Gavin, Esther Murrah, Lois Nieman, Grace Burke Ricossa, Agnes Bender, James Gavin and Mary Lucile Sweeney. After graduating from Sacred Heart in 1945, she attended the University of Memphis where she met her husband, William Eugene Warren, Sr. Married on August 23, 1948, Nancy and Bill would devote their 48 years of marriage to raising their 11 children. After raising her family, Nancy worked for many years at the Catholic Diocese of Memphis. She was passionate about books, movies, and storytelling. She was a talented piano player and enjoyed music. Nancy loved color in her home and in life. Nancy’s Catholic faith guided her throughout her life. She was always known to be gracious, humble and calm. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband William Eugene Warren, Sr., her son Dr. Kenneth Drew Warren, and her two grandsons William Culberson Warren and Austin Eugene Warren. Nancy leaves behind her adoring children Deborah (David Corbell) Warren, William (Debra) Warren Jr., Mark Warren, Thomas (Marissa Boudreaux) Warren, Nancy Younger, Mary Lovelace, James (Joy) Warren, Regina (Sylvia Moncada) Warren, Joseph Warren and Jennifer (Nolan) Rhem as well as her daughter-in-law Kristi Warren. She was the proud “Nana” to 25 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Friday, February 28th from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home followed by a Rosary Prayer Service at 7:00 pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Anne Church, 706 S. Highland on Saturday, February 29th at 10:00 am with burial at Memorial Park. Nancy had a special place in her heart for charities serving children. The family requests that any memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School, P.O.
