July 8, 1933 - August 13, 2020
Marjorie C. Brown, 87, of Memphis, passed away August 11. A member of Second Presbyterian Church for 56 years, Marjorie was active in the Women in the Church and served tirelessly with Knightlife, an inner-city youth ministry, for 25 years. She earned her BS degree in institutional nutrition and chemistry from LSU and was a Registered Dietician. As a fantastic chef who could easily cook up full meals for large numbers of people, she took great joy in cooking delicious meals for her family and for her friends – especially when they were sick, in the hospital or in need. Marjorie was a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary and restructured and organized the library for its Adult Rehabilitation Center using skills she learned as a long-time volunteer for the library at Second Presbyterian Church. Marjorie was an excellent swimmer who loved the water – she and her twin sister, Margaret, were on the synchronized swim team at the college now known as Texas Woman’s University and were a featured duo for their traveling performance team. Later, as a certified Water Safety Instructor for the Red Cross, she taught hundreds of children how to swim. Always seeking to have a positive impact on people, Marjorie served as a leader for both Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. Marjorie was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and took special joy in welcoming new American citizens, presenting them with American flags at their naturalization ceremonies. An avid football fan, she loved watching the Tigers of both LSU and Memphis. Marjorie was preceded in death by her grandson, David (DB) Brown, and her son-in-law, Robert Rosas. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Paul W. Brown, children Maggie Rosas and Harold (Susan) Brown, her granddaughter, Anna Brown, and her wonderful twin sister, Margaret C. Buck. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, August 22, in the sanctuary of Second Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119, 901-767-8930..."A Fitting Farewell for Everyone"....
