Linda Lawson

August 29, 1946 - January 27, 2022

On Thursday, January 27, 2022, Linda Jane Lawson, a loving mother of four children, passed away at age 75 with her children by her side. Linda was born August 29, 1946, in Memphis, TN, to Melvin and Jackie (Edwards) Bland. She obtained her Associate degree and served as the Executive Assistant to the Rector at Calvary Episcopal Church for 29 years. She raised two sons, Bobby and Gary, and two daughters, Machelli and Jeri. Linda was a deeply spiritual and dignified woman who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures; a warm cup of coffee, a sweet treat, and a warm, sunny day. Linda was a woman of great faith and devoted her life, both professionally and personally, to the service of the Lord. She was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church where she attended for many years. Later in life, she attended Covenant United Methodist Church and enjoyed participating in the Agape Sunday School class and the Covenant Quilters. Linda found considerable strength in God’s promises. Even in the face of great hardship, her faith never wavered. In her free time, Linda was an avid reader and amassed a large collection of books. She discovered a talent for art in her later years and greatly enjoyed coloring and painting. Linda was known for her kind, gentle spirit and her dedication to her children. Linda was preceded in death by her father, Melvin, and her mother, Jackie. She is survived by her four children, Bobby, Machelli, Jeri, and Gary, her brother Lanny, nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Linda’s visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
