Leonard Clell Miller 89, died Monday, February 28, 2022 after a brief illness. He was born September 30, 1932, in Robbs, Mississippi to Leonard Coleman and Nellie Ray Steel Miller. He was a member of Collierville First Baptist Church. He earned a B.S. degree from the University of Mississippi where he was a member of the Rebel Marching Band. In his youth he was active in the 4-H Club where he held various leadership positions on the local, state, and national levels. It was here that he developed his passion for conservation of our natural resources. His project was forestry and he left this legacy to his loved ones. Also, he enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. He was selected as an exchange student to Switzerland where he lived with a family learning about their culture and participating in their daily life activities. He was a chemist by profession and worked for Borden Chemicals and Gulf Oil. He traveled throughout the United States serving as a technical adviser in the development and usage of wood products. He loved listening to big band and southern gospel music. Also, he enjoyed ballroom dancing. He is survived by his wife, Sue Adams Miller, his daughter Dr. Donna Miller Johnson, step- daughters; Laura Taylor and Susan Adams, grandchildren; Garrett Johnson, Peyton Johnson, Linsey May, step grandchildren; Amy Taylor, Cara Crawford, and Sarah Kahlmus. Also, he leaves seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy Ann Long Miller, daughter; Susan Miller, his parents, sisters; Mabel Gillon, Jean Williams, and Dorothy Nell Miller, two brothers, James Miller and Billy Wayne Miller. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, March 11 at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. all in the Fireside Chapel of Memorial Park funeral Home. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Southwoods. His nephew; Rev. Tommy Gillon officiating. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Collierville First Baptist Church Mission Ministry
