Julia Swink Brantley

Julia Swink Brantley of Germantown, TN went to be with the Lord on December 6, 2020. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. Julia was born in Memphis on March 19, 1930, and later moved to Oak Ridge, TN and then to Blytheville, AR where she graduated from Blytheville High School. She attended Lambuth University as her mother before her. Her daughter Beth and granddaughter Julie also attended Lambuth University making it a four-generation alma mater. Julia then married "Buddy" the love of her life and they made their home in Nashville, TN and then Memphis. They had a son L.C. Brantley III (Brant) and a daughter Beth Brantley McHugh. Julia spent her life teaching and loving children. She taught Kindergarten at Oakhaven Methodist Church and then Country Cottage. She taught Sunday School for many years at her church Wesleyan Hills Methodist Church. She was known as a gifted teacher and artist. Most importantly, she was a loving and devoted mother to her son Brant and daughter Beth. She was adored and cherished by her children, her six grandchildren, and her twelve great grandchildren. Julia will be remembered as a beautiful person who was happy every day and who lived her life serving others. She was full of life, wit, joy, and strength. She is preceded in death by her parents Addie Lee and Cecil Swink, her brothers, Walter, Russell, and Dick Swink, and her beloved husband of 65 years, L.C. Brantley, Jr. She is survived by her son, L.C. Brantley III (Roz) of Paris, TN; daughter, Beth Brantley McHugh (Pat) of Germantown, TN; grandchildren, Kelly McHugh, Kevin McHugh, Cara Geissler (Eric) of Germantown, TN, Julie Estes (Jay) of Arlington, TN, Amy Mahaney of Chicago, IL and Lane Mahaney of Israel; great grandchildren, Nikki McHugh, Becca McHugh, Barrett McHugh, Bella McHugh, Blaine McHugh, Cash McHugh, Brennan Witt, Brantley Geissler, Violet Geissler, Jude Estes, Austin Estes, and Madden Estes. A gathering of friends is scheduled for Friday, December 11th at 10:30 AM with funeral service starting at 11 AM at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar Ave. in the Fireside Chapel. Rev. Danny Allen will officiate. Masks are required. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
