Janet Fiala Perry
September 23, 1939 - May 4, 2022
Janet Fiala Perry of Collierville, Tennessee passed away on May 4th, 2022, surrounded by her children at home. Jan was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, graduated high school in California, and attended college at Midland University in Nebraska. An avid Memphis State and Dallas Cowboys fan, Jan always watched the games to cheer on her teams. Her favorite activities were ziplining and skydiving (twice!) – she never met a dull day. Jan volunteered countless hours to the Collierville Food Pantry, Meals on Wheels, Baptist Hospice House, and Page Robbins Adult Day Center. As a testament to her many years of service as a volunteer, she was awarded the Points of Light Presidential Service Award from George H.W. Bush. Jan was a fierce friend, showing up when her friends needed her. She made lifelong friends by being a member of the Fabulous Five™ and the Lunch Bunch. She was a loving grandmother both to her biological and adopted grandchildren from the neighborhood and was affectionately known as the ‘Candy Lady’ who would hand out candy to any child who knocked on her door. Jan leaves behind her children Mike, Mark, Margaret, and Russell as well as her grandchildren, two great grandchildren and her two cats. Though she leaves behind her family here on earth, she will finally be reunited with her beloved husband Frank in heaven. To honor Jan’s memory, a celebration of her life will be Monday, May 9th in Memphis at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, with a visitation beginning at 12:00pm and service beginning at 1:00pm. Any donations in Jan’s honor should be made to Page Robbins Adult Day Center of Collierville.
